Tsali Care Center – Alzheimer’s unit


 

Funding from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) through its Indian Community Development Block Grant program, made it possible to convert 6 existing rooms to an Alzheimer’s wing at this 60-bed nursing facility.  The project is underway and is expected to be completed late summer 2011.

Water Sewer Storage Building – Completed 2011

Oconulafutee Island Park Energy Efficiency Project

The park and its outdoor lights and gazebo has beeen retrofitted with LED lighting.

Cultural District Streetscape – Phase II
Sidewalks and landscaping will make the District a pedestrian-friendly environment.

Soco Sewer Line

This project covers the last 2 miles of Soco Creek with sewer line.  The existing sewer line is inadequate to handle the new flow that will be coming from the Casino expansion and new housing from Rough Branch down through U.S. Highway 19 and the Wolftown and Painttown communities.  The sewer line will begin at or near the Wendy’s in Cherokee and follow Soco Creek past Food Lion on to where it meets the Oconaluftee River.

Transportation Building

This facility houses the Cherokee Transit Department who is responsible for bus, van and mass transit on the reservation.
